Jetty was finally able to go back to school yesterday and she was one happy camper. Her teacher said she was very quiet but no fever. Ella has been running a fever for 3days but with just a cough and seems to be recovering quickly. On the other hand, I am feeling pretty rough. I just need a good nights sleep so hopefully with the girls getting better I will be able to get some decent shut eye.
Even with the girls being sick they have been in really good moods. Jetty was even a flower girl in my brother's wedding on Sunday and did a fantastic job. The rehearsal and dinner was last week when she was really sick and she wouldn't walk down the aisle. I was expecting to have to walk down with her but she did her job like a pro. I will post some pictures of her in the dress as soon as I get them downloaded.

Poor Jetty

Cooking, Beach, and Boats
Some weekends seem to be non-stop with activities. This weekend was no exception and a lot of fun. Saturday morning Daddy had a bike race and the girls and I started our day out at kids cooking class. The class was great and the chef was so nice but poor Jetty was allergic to one ingredient in every recipe. The sweet people at the cooking class helped me make a little changes in the recipe so Jetty could cook. The dip had peanut butter, the pitas had tuna fish and the shake had soy, pineapple and citrus(which she is allergic to all those ingredients). I let her have the hummus but I knew it probably had lemon and soon enough poor little Jetty had hives. She is such a trooper and had a great time. I hope she grows out of these allergies. Big Thanks to Grandma for setting us up in the class and we hope to get to do it again.
Daddy and the girls and I arrived home about the same time and decided to go to the beach. The beach was a madhouse. We went at 3 thinking that most people would be heading out. We were so wrong. After finally finding a parking spot and walking down the boardwalk I looked at Doug and said "I just had a flashback to Jaws" and he said "I was about to say the same thing". The scene was just like the movie with people everywhere and a radio playing. The water was murky enough for some sharks to mistaken a foot or two. These images didn't deter us and we enjoyed playing in the freezing water with the girls and digging a big hole for a little pool for the girls. A giant sandbox with water...could you think of anything better as a child.
After the beach we went to downtown for the classic car show that they have once a month. Jetty loved picking out the yellow cars(her new favorite color). My daughter has some good taste in cars and seemed to pick out the most pricey as her favorite. A couple of times she picked out some horrible car from the 80's which made me question her taste. 80's cars at a Classic car show??
Daddy has been working hard on our sailboat this week. We had to pull her out of the water for new bottom paint. Sunday morning we went to the marina where the boat is because Jetty wanted to see her out of the water. There is also a diner right there so we had breakfast. It is one of those local places that is hard to find. Very rustic old Florida charm. In other words a dive. Doug should be done with Ping by Tuesday and he can bring her back to the dock. Ping was the name the boat had when we bought her. What a great coincidence to find a boat named after a Chinese story.

Beautiful
I have been wanting to get the girls photo done at one of those fancy schmancy photography places. One thing that has stopped me is Ella's anxiety in new places and there is no way she was going to cooperate and the other is money. I know, from past experiences, that even if they tell me no sitting fees I will walk out of there with a couple hundred dollars worth of photos that I can't afford.
After reminding myself that I took photography in college and I should be able to get a cute shot of two kids I decided to give it a try. I quickly remember that these are my kids and they don't always cooperate for photos. After feeding them and begging Jetty to put on a dress we went out to the backyard for our photo shoot.
So sweet...its the picture that I dreamed of.
This little moment was quickly followed by a bunch of giggles.

Back to the Beach... and Oh Susanna..
Even though we have been enjoying the sand at the beach for the last month we actually ventured into the water yesterday. It was freezing but the girls had a great time. Ella is in her element at the beach and walks away from me easily and plays in the sand. She is usually wrapping herself around me like a little monkey or holding on to my hand. Watching her confidence at the beach is such a wonderful thing to see. It was like a little vacation and my friend Elizabeth and I kept saying what a great place we live in and vowed to meet with the kids at least once a week. I can't believe I didn't take any photos but I will try to on the next beach visit.
Ella has always been a little singer. She is a girl of few words but there is always a song right on the edge of her tongue. Lately, the song of the hour is "OH Susanna". Did I say hour, I meant the song of the minute. She sings it all day long "OH nunana, cry me" usually with some item in her hand for a microphone. I finally got some video in which her microphone is a flower.
